Real Estate Consulting Team
We are currently looking for a Director to join RSM’s well-established and growing Real Estate and Valuation Consulting practice. This position will be based in one of RSM’s key Mid-Atlantic offices (Baltimore, MD / Washington, DC / McLean, VA). As part of this exciting team, you will have the opportunity to combine your specialist technical skills and knowledge of real estate to advice clients on all aspects of real estate related valuation matters.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate core competencies in the following areas:
Assist companies to identify and measure the value of their assets by providing independent and well-supported valuations.
Perform local, national and international real estate market analysis on a wide range of public and private entities using all accepted and relevant valuation approaches
Oversee quality control of internal valuation staff/processes while counseling and mentoring individuals in the practice spread across RSM offices
Conduct reviews of moderate- to highly-complex real property appraisal assignments for compliance with federal and state regulations as well as reasonableness of value conclusion(s).
Have working knowledge of USPAP, FIRREA, and Interagency guidelines.
Understand the requirements associated with the development of value conclusions under GAAP, tax, and regulatory rules allowing companies to understand the value of an entity, asset, or liability so they can make informed business and investment decisions.
Obtain pertinent resource materials to help establish assessed values.
Analyze regional and local area economic profiles including employment, population, household income, and real estate trends as well as identifying emerging development trends for the real estate market.
Confirm and analyze legal and physical features of the subject property including the site size, flood plain data, seismic zone, zoning, easements and encumbrances and access and exposure of real property.
Investigate and gather data required for determining value. This would include but is not limited to tax and assessment data, market statistics including vacancy, absorption, and other supply/demand factors, comparable data (land sales, lease and sale comparable).
Complete appraisal reports including area descriptions, market analysis, site description and improvement descriptions
The successful Director candidate will possess the following required degrees, certificates or competencies:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university
Active Certified General Appraiser license
MAI designated member (preferred) or actively working towards MAI designation
7-8+ years of experience performing equivalent duties as a commercial real estate appraiser
Strong communication and analytical skills
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Argus
Experience with complex income-producing assignments
Strong work ethic and desire to take their valuation career to the next level
Ability to travel as required
