CIM – Associate, Research & Development Tax Credits; Accounting Methods & Periods

 

As a member of our CIM group, working specifically with Research & Development Credits (R&D) and Tax Accounting Methods & Periods (AMP), you will be responsible for the following job duties which are focused around two core concepts:  your technical and quality expertise and delivering excellent client service:

 

  • Works with the R&D Tax Credit team to prepare and learn to review R&D Tax Credit calculation and supporting documentation

·       Delivery of AMP projects supervised by regional and WNT AMP specialists, including revenue recognition, expense recognition, inventory/unicap, and cost recovery tax accounting method changes

·       Stay up-to-date on current tax practices and changes in tax law

·       Research and write tax advice, opinion, and position memorandums

  • Assist in performing multiple projects simultaneously, which includes tasks such as taking notes during client interviews, preparing computations and analysis, and data gathering 
  • Provides timely, high quality client service that meets or exceeds client expectations
  • Ensures professional development through ongoing education and obtaining additional certifications as appropriate
  • Completes research and special projects as needed

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

·       Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in public accounting, or a combination of public accounting and industry/law

·       Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Tax required

·       Intermediate skills in MS Excel and Access

·       Ability to travel up to 50% of the time

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·       CPA or JD

·       Masters in Accounting/LLM

·       1-2 years of experience working with research and development

·       Experience working for large national accounting firm in a specialized practice area
