RSM is looking for a dynamic Senior Associate to join our Financial Services Assurance team in our Raleigh Office. You will have the opportunity to work as a team member on diverse public and privately owned client engagements as part of our national and local assurance practice. Our clients include local and national recognized specialty finance companies with diverse organizational structures operating in a variety of sectors for consumer and commercial financing. For decades, RSM’s assurance professionals have been helping clients improve their performance through the most challenging business cycles. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide timely, high quality client service that meets or exceeds client expectations including coordinating the auditing of all required financial statements, related disclosures, and other client deliverables

  • Assess audit risk along with the design of audit procedures and communicate audit procedures to engagement teams

  • Understand and utilize RSM’s audit methodology

  • Manage multiple engagement teams and prepare end-of-engagement evaluations for staff

  • Develop an understanding of the client's business and understand client specific needs

  • Supervise the Staff under the direction of a Manager

  • Supervise Audit Associates on engagement teams and function as an in-charge facilitating field work by monitoring and reporting regarding productivity and adherence to work plan schedules on each assignment

  • Anticipate and address client concerns and escalate issues as they arise

  • Recognizing and informing management of opportunities to increase level and types of services to clients

  • Ensure professional development through ongoing continuing professional education

  • Willingness to travel 25%-35% of the year, depending on your clients 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • BS/BA Degree in Accounting or equivalent degree

  • CPA certification or demonstrated progress towards obtaining CPA certification, including required coursework

  • 3 years of current or recent experience in a public accounting environment Experience as acting "in-charge" on audit engagements

  • Willingness to take supervision and guidance 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with financial services industry auditing financial institution, credit unions, or other specialty lenders

  • Experience with business combination accounting, goodwill and long lived asset impairment procedures
