Understanding the impact of existing tax laws is hard enough, and new legislation, judicial decisions and administrative authority compound the challenges. Professionals in RSM's Washington National Tax (WNT) office advise clients and RSM client engagement teams with respect to complex issues across a wide range of tax specialty practice areas. WNT is seeking an associate to join its partnership tax consulting team.
In this role, you will work with a team that advises clients and RSM professionals across the firm with respect to partnership taxation issues, tax structures and complex allocation methods.
Examples of the candidate’s responsibilities include:
Working with clients and tax professionals across the firm to help identify issues and opportunities associated with partnership taxation.
Analyzing the tax impact of key events such as formations, recapitalizations, mergers, purchases and sales.
Preparing complex calculations related to income allocations and basis adjustments.
Completing tax planning and research
Preparation of client correspondence
Preparation of IRS ruling requests
Assisting with the development of service ideas and tools
Writing alerts, articles and other publications
Developing and delivering internal training
Minimum B.A. or B.S. degree or equivalent from an accredited university
Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred
Meeting education requirement for CPA certification in the state where you are applying for employment
Working toward the successful completion of the CPA exam—tax associates have the opportunity to obtain the audit hours required for full certification
Masters in Tax or Juris Doctor
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Ability to work effectively on a team
Ability to work and multitask in a fast-paced environment
