As a senior member of the Corporate Tax Office (CTO) specialty practice, you will be responsible for the following areas:

  • Client service delivery

  • Technical excellence

Client Service Delivery, Technical Excellence and Mentoring


Corporate income tax compliance and ASC 740 co-sourcing services are provided by dedicated specialists from designated hub locations. As a co-sourcing engagement leader your responsibilities will include:

  • Co-develop co-sourcing plan with client to meet their needs and expectations in a manner that consistently demonstrates a deep understanding of large corporate accounting & tax environments and industry trends

    Tax technical review and sign corporate federal and state income tax returns (including international forms)

  • Review and sign off on ASC 740 deliverables - workpapers, journal entries, footnote disclosures, etc. from a tax technical and accounting principles perspective

  • Embrace and leverage agreed upon automation techniques to ensure we are differentiating RSM co-sourcing services for Middle Market clients

  • Provide supervisory oversight and quality controls - properly escalate issues and risks to avoid missing client expectations

  • On-board new clients with the assistance of a separate CTO transition team

  • Overall project management to deliver agreed upon co-sourcing services on-schedule and on-budget

  • On-the-job mentor, coach and trainer to develop team taxation, technology, communication and project management skills

  • Collaborate with local, regional and national partners to continuous improve hub operations and meet growth / profitability goals 

Personal Practice Management:


Personal practice management goals will meet or exceed firm expectations for a senior tax professional. Practice management also includes actively participating and complying with CTO specialty practice management standards, actively fulfilling RSM’s brand promise regarding client and talent experience, and actively adopting or engaging in other firm, line of business or specialty practice strategic initiatives.


Practice Development:


Business development goals differ by level and area of expertise, for instance a Manager’s goals might be more oriented toward business pursuit participation in a team situation.  A Director might be more oriented toward using technical skills to capture new work and also part of a team environment and a Sr. Manager would have more “generation” goals.  Annual practice development goals will meet or exceed firm expectations for a senior tax professional related to corporate income tax co-sourcing and outsourcing - compliance and ASC740 services. 


Thought Leadership:


Strong interest in being on the leading edge of large account service processes and technologies. Thought leadership can take many forms but should include contributions in one or more of the following:

  • RSM sponsored or co-sponsored webcast presenter

  • Tax Technical Advisory Conference presenter

  • TEI local, regional and national presenter 

Basic Qualifications:

  • CPA or attorney

  • Significant prior experience with large corporate income tax compliance and ASC740 - as a service provider or in a publicly / privately held industry role.  Minimum 10 years

  • Significant supervisory experience.  Minimum 5 years significant user experience and / or implementation experience is required with some or all of the following areas

  • Tax Software: Corptax, ONESOURCE or an equivalent
    • General Ledger Accounting Software: SAP, Oracle / PeopleSoft or an equivalent

    • Financial Consolidation Software: SAP BPC, Oracle Hyperion Financial Management or an equivalent

    • Fixed Assets: SAP Fixed Assets, PeopleSoft Asset Manager or an equivalent

Travel Requirements:

  • While not expected to be a significant requirement, there will be times when travel for client meetings is required. Typical situations include kick off sessions with new clients or final delivery of returns.  Expected travel - up to 5%

  • Annual tax and tax technology conferences require travel

  • Designated hub locations are in Raleigh, N.C. and the D.C. Metro Area. Engagement team members may be staffed out of either location or even include national team members

  • Active use of telecommunications and web hosted conference calls will help create a ‘virtual hub’ environment and limit travel demands
