The Employee Relations Specialist works closely with the employee relations team and advises human resources team members on less complex human resources issues related to policy interpretation, performance management, discipline, hiring/onboarding, and other employee relations issues. This position also regularly monitors compliance within systems such as I-9, e-Verify, background checks, and code of conduct surveys.

Essential Duties:

  • Provide first level, interpretative guidance on RSM US LLP policies to HR community and assist in identification of clarifying or additional guidance required.  Provide support and objective guidance to field HR on various employee relations issues.  Coordinate with Employee Relations team on these efforts
  • Manage multiple Outlook mailboxes, databases, libraries, processes, and surveys.  Communicate status updates and required attention to Employee Relations team.  These include but are not limited to new hire and annual Code of Conduct surveys results; Employee Relations mailbox submissions; background verifications (including coordination with field HR for additional client requirements, e.g. finger-print, drug testing); hiring and onboarding materials or processes as appropriate; partner background processes (for new or newly acquired partners/principals), and employment agreement delinquencies.  Training coordinator-level field HR team on various compliance-related processes under the direction of Employee Relations senior associate and other team members
  • Provide project management assistance with the implementation of various change management and/or other initiatives.  This may include but is not limited to various policy or procedural changes, mergers/acquisitions activity, and direct admit partner/principal processes. Coordinate with regions for all new HR hires to ensure proper access to tools and HR onboarding.  Manage with Employee Relations team renewals of all policies in Firm Policy Library
  • Assist Employee Relations team with various compliance reporting required by and for RSM US LLP, including but not limited to AAP (including RFP requests), VET100 reporting, annual Code of Conduct/Independence/Information Security surveys, EEO1 reporting, and international reporting (as directed by International ER team).  Provide support to field HR with regards to subpoena data gathering, e-Verify and I-9 issues, and anti-harassment trainings
  • Input, manage and track updates and changes HR Connect & Employee Matters.  Input updates for partner/principal site as guided by Employee Relations management
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Bachelor Degree in Human Resources or related field required


  • 1-2 years of experience working as a Generalist within a Human Resources department required
  • Employee relations experience preferred

Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity with federal and state employment laws required
  • Proficiency in all aspects of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) required
  • Experience with SharePoint preferred
  • Ability to communicate verbally and written with a diverse audience required
  • High service orientation, detail oriented with exceptional organization skills and ability to prioritize workload preferred
